All about watermelon

Watermelon is very easy to get in the summer. To find one that is ripe, it should have a yellow underside and be heavy for its size. Watermelon is: 

  • Fat free 
  • Sodium free 
  • Cholesterol free
  • High in vitamin A

Benefits of Vitamins A and C

Vitamins A and C have many health benefits. They both support the immune system. Vitamin A is important for good vision and healthy bone growth. Vitamin C is needed for the growth and repair of tissues in your body. It also helps to heal wounds.

Watermelon kebabs

Try this recipe for a fun twist on eating your watermelon. 

You’ll need: 

  • Seedless watermelon
  • Smoked turkey
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Coffee stirrers or straws

Cut the watermelon, turkey and cheese into 1” cubes. Place pieces of each on the stirrers or straws and enjoy.
