Does your client have a Medicare plan?
If the answer is no, then the client can:
- Choose a plan that partners with OptumCare® Network of Utah. It should be a Medicare Advantage HMO plan. (HMO stands for health maintenance organization.)
- Choose an OptumCare primary care doctor.
If the answer is yes:
We contract with the AARP® MedicareComplete® health plan offered through UnitedHealthcare®.
- If your client is already a member of this plan, then they are already seeing or are assigned to a doctor in our network.
- If your client has Medicare, they may want to consider switching to Medicare Advantage during the Annual Enrollment Period and selecting the AARP MedicareComplete plan through UHC.
Choosing the right health plan, network and doctor.
For your clients, figuring out how their health plan, medical network and doctor work together can be confusing. We’ve created a graphic to help make it clearer.
Health insurance plan
The health plan pays the cost of medical care. This can include medical benefits, behavioral health and prescription drug coverage. Through the health plan, clients choose a medical network and primary care doctor.
Clients choose their medical network through the health insurance plan. The medical network provides access to primary care doctors, hospitals, specialists and a variety of services.
Primary care doctor
The primary care doctor works with both the medical network and health insurance plan. The doctor leads your client’s health care team and coordinates all of their care.
