Does your client have a Medicare plan?
If the answer is no, then the client can:
- Choose a plan that partners with OptumCare® Network of Arizona. It should be a Medicare Advantage HMO plan. (HMO stands for health maintenance organization.)
- Choose an OptumCare primary care doctor.
If the answer is yes, then the client can:
- Call the health plan and ask if it’s possible to switch to a primary care doctor who is part of OptumCare. For help with this, please call the broker support line at 1-866-393-1158.
- If the health plan allows the switch, then the client can choose an OptumCare primary care doctor.

Health insurance plan
The health plan pays the cost of medical care. This can include medical benefits, behavioral health and prescription drug coverage. Through the health plan, clients choose a medical network and primary care doctor.
Clients choose their medical network through the health insurance plan. The medical network provides access to primary care doctors, hospitals, specialists and a variety of services.
Primary care doctor
The primary care doctor works with both the medical network and health insurance plan. The doctor leads your client’s health care team and coordinates all of their care.
