Father’s Day is the second Sunday in June. Instead of trying to find the perfect tie, why not focus on health? The week leading up to Father’s Day is also Men’s Health Week. It’s the perfect time to make sure your dad is being proactive and staying healthy. Here are some tips.

Preventive care

Talk openly with your dad about his health. Be sure he’s had, or scheduled, his annual physical. Also, suggest he talk with his doctor about which health care screenings may be best for him. Examples include:

  • Blood pressure screening
  • Cancer screening
  • Cholesterol screening
  • Diabetes screening
  • Wellness screening

Share these four tips with your dad that every man should know about staying healthy.

  • Get fit – A little exercise each week can go a long way.
  • Eat healthy – Make half of your plate fruits and vegetables.
  • See your doctor – Be sure to get the checkups and shots you need to stay healthy.
  • Don’t sweat the costs – Good health is worth it.
